Q.5. In an elementary reaction . If the concentration of A is increased four times and B is decreased to half of its initial concentration then the rate becomes
(1) Twice
(2) Half
(3) Unchanged
(4) One fourth of the rate
As reaction is first order with respect to A and second order with respect to B
So
Rate = k[A][B]2
= k[2A][0.5B]2
= k[A][B]
Hence rate is unchanged (3)
So
Rate = k[A][B]2
= k[2A][0.5B]2
= k[A][B]
Hence rate is unchanged (3)
