explain Reimer- Tiemann reaction Briefly ?

Reimer-Teiman reaction is the reaction of a phenol with an alkali (aqueous NaOH or KOH) at 600 C. A -CHO group is introduced in the ortho position of the benzene ring, leading to the formation of 2-Hydroxybenzaldehyde (commonly known as salicaldehyde).
