Explain Renin - Angiotension mechanism

Dear Student,

Please find below the solution to the asked query:

Renin-Angiotensin Mechanism

When GFR falls, Juxtaglomerular Apparatus (JG) cells release renin. The renin plays an important role in the production of angiotensin II. The renin converts angiotensinogen  into angiotensin I and then to Angiotensin II.

Angiotensin II constricts the blood vessels to increase blood pressure and hence GFR. It also activates adrenal cortex to release aldosterone that causes re-absorption of Na+ and water from tubule. This also results in an increase in blood pressure and hence GFR.

Hope this information will clear your doubts about Renin-Angiotensin Mechanism
