the weimar republic was formed after a meeting had been done at a place named weimar. the national assembly has held the meeting .

it was not liked by the people as it was seen haesh and humiliatiung in terms of treaty of versailles.

the people also held it responsible for the germany had lost the war.

 Birth of the Weimar Republic Germanys defeat in the First World War and the abdication of the emperor gave anopportunity to parliamentary parties to recast German polity. A National Assembly met at Weimer and established a democratic constitution with afederal structure. Deputies were elected to the German Parliament or Reichstag on the basis of universaladult franchise. Women also got the right to vote. The Peace Treaty of Versailles was harsh and humiliating for Germany. Germany lost its overseas colonies, a tenth of its population, 13 % of its territories,75% of its iron and 26% of its coal to France, Poland, Denmark and Lithuania. The War Guilt clause held Germany responsible for the war and damages suffered bythe allied countries. Germany had to pay a compensation of six billion pounds. The Allied armies occupied Rhineland for the much of 1920s. Many Germans believed that the new Weimer Republic was responsible for not onlythe defeat in the war but the disgrace at Versailles.

So at the end of it a peace treaty was signed by Germans and Allies at Versailles known as Versailles Treaty which was more harsh and humiliating. According to this treaty, German lost its overseas colonies, one-tenth of population, 13%of territories and many raw materials. Allied powers demilitarised German to weaken its powers and and put a compensation on Germany. For all these disgrace, German accused the Weimar Republic.

The reasons for the Weimar Republic's collapse are the subject of continuing debate. It may have been doomed from the beginning since even moderates disliked it and extremists on both the left and right loathed it.
