Explain the concept of Lok Adalat.? Why are they called people's court?

Solution-
Lok Adalats were given constitutional status by the passage of national legal service act 1987.It is an alternative court or a dispute redressal system to cases pending in pre litigation level. No appeal against the sentence award of these courts can be made in any court of India as their sentence is final and binding. These were setup to decrease the burdens of other judicial institutions of India which are already struggling to dispose a myriad of cases.
Lok Adalat were called people's court as there is no intervention from judiciary in the proceedings of the Lok Adalats and the parties are to settle their disputes amicably amongst themselves through talks.
