Dear Student, The water is distributed unevenly on Earth. Only 3 percent of water on Earth surface is fresh and the remaining 97 percent is ocean water. Of fresh water 69 percent resides in glaciers, 30 percent is underground, and only 1 percent is in lakes, streams and ponds. In other ways only 1 percent water on the Earth surface is usable by humans and 99 percent of the usuable quantity is underground. Importance of water for animals.Animals need water for their vital functions such as for pH regulation in their body, temperature regulation, digestion of food, joint lubrication and hydrolysis.
