In economics straight lines are most commonly used in graphical presentations with two axes starting in a central point (the origin) with one of the axes denoting changes in a variable and the other axes a change in a variable due to a change in the first variable. Such presentations can also consist of three lines representing a three dimensional relationship between three variables. Within those graphics a drawn strait vertical line usually stand for a situation where whatever the value of the variable on the vertical axis there is no change in the variable of the horizontal axis and the other way round. In case there is a straight line starting in the origin the line represents a constant relation netween the two variables.
