Explain the events that occur in the host cell on introduction of nematode-resistant
gene into the tobacco plant by using Agrobacterium vectors.

The events that occur in the host cell on introduction of nematode-resistant gene
a. To develop resistance against nematodes, the nematode specific genes are introduced into the host tobacco plant where agrobacterium are used as vectors

b. The introduced DNA produces a sense and anti-sense RNA in the host cells of tobacco plant. These RNA molecules are complementary to each other and forms a double stranded RNA.

c. This RNA interference causes silencing of the specific nematode mRNA and this is lethal for the survival of the nematode in the tobacco plant root. Thus, the tobacco plants develop resistance....
