explain the factors to be considered while selecting appropriate mode of transporatation

Following are few factors enlisted that affects the mode of transport.
i. Type of Good: If the good to be transported is heavy, bulky then waterways is more suitable, Whereas if good to be transported is perishable in nature than it can be easily transported with airways.
ii. Cost: Cost is an important factor in deciding mode of transport. Airways is the costliest mode of transportation. Railways and roadways are cheaper modes of transport.
iii. Time Involved: If the goods are to be transported in less time then airways and railways are best suited. Whereas waterways and road transport (especially when goods are transported long distance) takes time.
iv. Suitability: Some mode of transportation cannot reach certain destinations. For example for international transportation, airways and waterways are best suitable. Roads and railways do not connect internationally.
