Explain the incident of 2nd January. 1977 when they were in southern Indian Ocean
Briefly explain the terms used

Dear Student,
The answer to the first question is provided below-
At dawn on January 2, the waves were gigantic. They were sailing with only a small storm jib and were still making 8 knots. The ship rose to the top each wave and the huge waves were approaching the ship. While the strong wind was painful to the ears, the storm jib dropped and lashed a heavy mooring rope in a loop across the stern. They then double- lashed everything, went through the life-raft drill, attached lifelines, donned oilskins, and life jackets only to wait.
At 6 pm the waves were already higher than the ship and chased it, hit the back of the ship, and broke the starboard. The narrator felt himself flying overboard and sinking below the waves. In this, he injured himself. Mary (the narrator's wife) took the steering wheel. Larry and Herb pumped the water out of the deck. The hand pumps then started to block as the water level increased. The narrator then remembered about the electric pump and used it. The radio was not working and no connection seemed to be established. The narrator's daughter Sue was injured.
