When the expression on the ancient Mariner's face changed, it seemed as though something wrong and sinful had happened. The Wedding guest notices his expression and calls upon God to free him from his supposed agony. When he asked the Ancient Mariner why he looked so tormented and terrified, he repkied that he had committed the heinous crime if killing the Albatross with hus crossbow.
