It refers to the process of selection of a subset of items from a population. Only a part of universe is studied and conclusions are drawn for the whole universe on the basis of that study.

There are six types of sampling :-

Random Sampling
Non-Random Sampling
Purposive Sampling
Stratified Or Mixed Sampling
Quota Sampling
Convenience Sampling
