explain the process of elution?

Elution is the process of extracting one substance from another by washing with some solvent. This process is used in chromatography technique where a solute has to be removed from a solution. The solvent which is used for elution is called eluent.

In liquid chromatography, analytes are found in the solution. For elution of that analyte, some eluent is to be added to the solution present in the chromatography column. The eluent solvent passing through the solution breaks the bonds of analytes and carries them out of the column.
