Explain the properties floating sinking soluble and insoluble. Give practicalexamples of these properties in our real life

Dear student,

Floating substance is the one that has the lower density compared to the liquid in which it is allowed to float.
Example, oil is lighter than water and hence oil floats on water.

Sinking substance is the one that has the higher density compared to the liquid in which it is allowed to sink.
Example, rock is heavier than water and hence rock sinks in water.

Soluble substance is the one which when added to the solvent completely dissolves to form a homogenous solution.
Example, when salt is added to the water, it completely dissolves in some time.

Insoluble substance is the one which when added to the liquid does not dissolve and forms a heterogeneous mixture.
Example, when sand is added to the water, it settle down at the bottom to form a heterogeneous mixture.
