explain the reference to cracks in the poem "the trees".

Dear student,

The trees in the poem are representative of nature itself which is trying to break free of human bondage. The trees wish to move into the natural habitat by moving out of greenhouses and artificial environments. So, the roots of the trees try to free themselves from the cracks in the verandah floor. They are trying to disentangle themselves from the cracks so that they can be free to prosper in the natural habitat.

Regards
