Explain the role of Justice Party in Boycotting of council elections.

Dear Student

The justice party was a political party formed in the Madras Presidency in 1917 by P.Theagaraya Chetty and T.M.Nair. It was formed for the non-Brahmins to stand for them in the administration of the state which was approached only by Brahmins in general.
The council elections were not boycotted in Madras where the Justice party was dominant. The Justice party which promoted the interests of Non Brahmans did not join the non cooperation movement, nor it boycotted elections. The party believed  that council elections was  the way of getting power  and promoting interests which only Brahmins had access to. Thus, they fought for their interests and did not join the boycotting of the elections.
