explain the significance of the title lost spring

The title “Lost Spring” aptly suits the story written by the Author Anees Jung. Spring is the time of the year when all dead and decay are vanished. Life flourishes in the natural beauty in the form of budding flowers and green lush trees. It is the time of happiness, growth and nourishment. The title of the story “Lost Spring” hints towards the lost happiness in the growing up of young children like Sahib and Mukesh. It brings forward the ugly truth of poverty that embraces the young children and they are forced to work in garbage dumps and damp and dingy places.
Spring as a season is used as a metaphor for childhood. Through the story, Anees Jung analyses the grinding poverty and traditions that condemn thousands of children like Sahib to a dark and hazardous life. Abject poverty has snatched away their childhood that would have been full of happiness and vigour if they would not have to earn for their survival. Thus the author has critically used to the word “lost” to bring forth the lost happiness and childhood of the poor children.
