Explain the statement " Society must be protected from people like you."  Also tell why the statement is ironical . In A Question Of Trust.

Dear student,

The given words were said by a young lady to Danby when he was about to break open a safe and she caught him red-handed. Danby presumed her to be the mistress of the house and felt she uttered those words to threaten him and make him realise how a burglar like him must be put away behind bars to keep people and their valuables safe. The statement proved to be ironical as she too was a thief in reality. She was smart enough to hoodwink an accomplished burglar like Danby into believing she had forgotten the numbers to open the safe. He opened the safe and gave her the jewels in exchange for her silence. But, he was eventually caught by the police and realised that he had been tricked by another burglar who turned out to be smarter than him.

Regards
