Explain the working of an electric bell??????? if u guys tell me tjhe right ans then thumbss up.plz do write in detail...........

a bell consists of an electromagnet, an armature, a screw ,a gong,a hammer.when switch is pressed on current flows in the electromagnet. It attracts the iron rod causing the hammer to strike the gong.but armature loses contact with screw&current is switched off so electromagnet lose its magnetism. The armature goes back to its original position &circuit closes again.this cycle repeats itself till the current is switched off.

 1.   Construction-:

  • electric bell works on magnetic effect of electric current
  • it consists of a coil wire wound on an iron piece
  • the coil acts as an electromagnet
  • an iron strip with a hammer at the is kept close to electromagnet
  • there is no contact screw near the iron strip

       2. Working

  • when the iron strip is in contact with screw, the current flows through the coil which becomes an electromagnet
  • It the pulls the iron strip. In the process, the hammer strikes the gong of the bell to produce a sound
  • when the electromagnet pulls the iron strip, the circuit breaks
  • the coil is no longer electromagnet
  • it no longer attracts the iron strip
  • the iron strip comes backs to its orignal position and touches the contact screw again
  • this again complete the circuit and the coil again again attracts the iron strip and strikes the gong
  • this process is repeated  in quick session
  • the hammer strikes the gong everytime the circuit is complete
  • this is how the bell rings

You need it short and sweet ok let me explain it it consists of a coil wire around an iron piece it acts like an Electromagnet when current passes through it and when current passes through the hammer near the contact screw the hammer also becomes an electromagnet as the round like structure is a good conductor it pulls the hammer and leave it back this happens for some time hope you understand regards if you want this picture more clearly referred NCERT book page 169

Working of an electric bell

Electric current flows through the coil when the switch is ON, and the iron core acts as an electromagnet. The iron core attracts the hammer towards it. The hammer hits the bell and produces a sound. The circuit breaks at the screw contact when the hammer moves towards the iron core. At this point, the iron core ceases to be an electromagnet. The hammer is pulled back to its original position due to the spring action of the steel rod, and then touches the contact again to complete the circuit. The circuit is completed and current flows through the coil again, and the hammer strikes the bell again. The process repeats itself and you hear a ringing sound since the hammer keeps hitting the bell, until the switch is released.

An electric bell is a mechanical bell that functions by means of an electromagnet. When an electric current is applied, it produces a repetitive buzzing or clanging sound. Electric bells have been widely used at railroad crossings, in telephonesfire and burglar alarms, as school bellsdoorbellS, and alarms in industrial plants, since the late 1800s, but they are now being widely replaced with electronic sounders. It consists of coils of insulated wire wound round iron rods. When an electric current flows through the coils, the rods became magnetic and attract a piece of iron attached to a clapper. The clapper hits the bell and makes it ring.

An electric bell consists of a hammar, a gong, a soft iron strip, a battery, an electric switch, an electromagnet and an adjusting screw.
When we push the switch of the bell, an electric current flows to the electromagnet. The electromagnet attracts the soft iron strip. The hammar attracted to the strip then hits the gong, making the bell ring.

When the circuit is complete, current flows through the coils of electromagnet. It attracts the iron strip that is attached to the hammer. the hammer moves with it and hits the gong" but the circuit is now broken at the point of the contact screw. The electromagnet looses its magnetism and no longer attracts the iron strip. The iron strip moves back to its original position and makes contact with the contact screw, thus completing the circuit again. This cycle is repeated as long as the switch is on.

CIRCUIT-AN ELECTRIC BELL CONSISTS OF AN IRON CORE ON WHICH IS WOUND A WIRE AS A COIL. ONE END OF THE COIL IS CONNECTED TO ONE TERMINAL OF A BATTERY,AND THE OTHER END TO A STEEL ROD THAT ACTS LIKE A SPRING FOR THE HAMMER TOUCHING THE SCREW CONTACT. THE OTHER TERMINAL OF THE BATTERY IS CONNECTED TO THE SCREW CONTACT WITH A SWITCH IN THE MIDDLE.

WORKING-ELECTRIC CURRENT FLOWS THROUGH THE COIL WHEN THE SWITCH IS ON AND THE IRON CORE ACTS AS AN ELECTROMAGNET. THE IRON CORE ATTRACTS THE HAMMER TOWARDS IT. THE HAMMER HITS THE BELL AND PRODUCES A SOUND. THE CIRCUIT BREAKS AT THE SCREW CONTACT WHEN THE HAMMER TOWARDS THE IRON CORE AT THIS POINT THE IRON CORE CEASES TO BE AN ELECTRO MAGNET THE HAMMER IS PULLED BACK TO ITS ORIGINAL POSITION DUE TO THE SPRING ACTION OF THE STEEL ROD,AND THEN TOUCHES THE CONTACT AGAIN TO COMPLETE THE CIRCUIT. THE CIRCUIT IS COMPLETED AND CURRENT FLOWS THROUGH THE COIL AGAIN AND HAMMER STRIKES THE BELL AGAIN.THE PROCESS REPEATS ITSELF AND YOU HEAR  RINGING SOUND SINCE THE HAMMER KEEPS HITTING THE BELL,UNTIL THE SWITCH IS RELEASED.

THIS IS THE WORKING OF THE ELECTRIC BELL

HOPE IT HELPS YOU:)

Introduction

To understand the operations of an electric bell, you should first understand what an electromagnet is. Well, to put it in simple words, an electromagnet is basically a type of magnet in which the magnetic field is produced with the help of an electric current. When any electrical influences electromagnet it works as a standard magnet(generating magnetic fields). When the power generation to an electromagnet stops, the production of the magnetic field also stops.

So, in an electric bell, an electromagnet forms an important part along with Armature, Spring, Armature rod, Hammer and a Gong.

The image below shows the internal mechanism of an electric bell.

Working Of An Electric Bell

An electric source, for example, a battery can be used to power the electromagnet used in an electric bell. The electric circuit is completed by installing a push switch which you can press to sound an electric bell. The switch also acts as the circuit breaker.

So once the setup is completed, when the switch is pressed, the circuit loop is complete which causes the current to flow through the circuit. The arm which strikes the gong is connected to a spring at one end and an iron ball at the other end. This is called a hammer or a striker. The arm is attached to an iron strip which is attracted to the electromagnet when the circuit is complete and the current flowing through it.

Why does this happen? It’s mainly because the magnetic field created by the electromagnet attracts the iron strip towards it when the circuit is complete. This is the moment when you hear the ringing sound since the hammer keeps hitting the gong. Meanwhile, at its rest position, the hammer is held away from the gong on account of the spring attached to its arm. This is an anchored arm.

Process of the working of an electric bell

Now that you have an understanding of the important parts in an electric bell, the step by step process of the working of the electric bell is described below:

  • The switch is pressed and current flows through the circuit.
  • The electromagnet is powered and generates a magnetic field that attracts the iron strip towards it.
  • The striker strikes the gong (bell).
  • When the striking arm strikes the gong, the contact is broken and current stops flowing through the circuit.
  • This causes the electromagnet to lose its magnetic field.
  • The connected spring arm returns the striker to its original rest position.
  • The contact is restored and current flows through the circuit (provided the main switch is still pressed).
  • The process is repeated from the beginning.
