Explain third law in simple language to understand better.
Dear student
THIRD LAW OF THERMODYNAMICS
This is the law which defines absolute zero as the condition for an entropy of a system to be zero.
The third law of thermodynamics states that at absolute zero (0 K or -273.15 oC), the entropy of a perfectly crystalline substance is zero.
The third law of thermodynamics states that the entropy of a perfectly crystalline substance approaches zero as the absolute zero of temperature is reached.
At lower temperature, the energy of the molecules would be less. Hence the translational, rotational and vibrational motion of the molecules would be restricted because of which their entropy would be less and approach zero at extremely low temperature (close to zero).
Hope it is clear.
