Explain why(i) Great care should be taken while handling Laboratory acids and bases.

(ii) Acidic soil is treated with a base and basic soil is treated with organic matter

i) All the laboratory chemicals are very expensive and associated with some kind of health hazard or environmental hazard. Some chemicals are hazardous at minute level Or some chemicals are readily catch fire in air. So before handling all the chemicals we should know the precautions for the use of particular chemicals to avoid any unwanted accident. For example , when our skin touch the strong acid like H₂SO₄ or HCl it get burns. If this acids touch the cut skin it can cause a deep tissue damage. More over ingestion of an acid or base can cause the human body to change its pH level. At different pH level, the organs will not function properly which can result in organ failure and even death. 
ii) soil with neutral pH level is best for the growth of most of the plant. Either too acidic or too basic both is not good for plant growth. That is why acidic soil is neutralised by using suitable base and basic soil is neutralised by suitable acid to get the good yield of crop.
