Explain why the wall of a dam is made thicker at the battom.

Dear student

Since pressure increases with depth, the pressure at bottom of dams is maximum. Hence to withstand this pressure dam walls are made thicker at bottom.

Hope it helps you

The?dam. You can see from the diagram that the?dam?is much?thicker at the bottom?than it is at the top. This is because the pressure of the water is much greater deeper down and thedam?needs to be?thick at the bottom so that it is strong enough to withstand this larger pressure.

The wall of the dam are made thicker at bottom because of the lateral pressure exerted by water . It increases with the increase in hight laterel pressure means perssure exerted by water to the side of a contaning vessel
