Explain with an example how you will use the metre ruler in particular (a) if the end of ruler are broken

Dear Student

If the ends of the ruler get damaged or are broken with use and its zero mark may not be visible we can still use it to measure the length of an object, the object is placed close to a specific markings on the ruler and positions of both ends of the object are read on the ruler.

See an example below:


We are measuring a pencil. Place it at point 1 and say it goes till 4.3.
Simply measure subtract 1 from the result. 

4.3 - 1 = 3.3
