explanation for apical meristem, intercalary meristem and lateral meristem

Apical meristems:They are present at the tips of stems, roots and branches. They are responsible for the axial growth in a plant. It brings about the elongation of root and stem.It results in an increase in the height of the plant which is called primary growth.

Intercalary meristems: They are present at the base of the internodes. They are responsible for the growth of the internodal region. It produces an increase in the length of an organ such as leaves and internodes.

Lateral meristems: They are present on the lateral side of stems and roots. They are responsible for the radial growth of plants.Vascular cambiumand cork cambiumare examples of lateral meristem.
