Factors affecting enzyme activith. Explain

Dear Student,

The factors that effect enzymes in our body are:

1. Temperature:- any increase from optimum temperature will denature an enzyme, whereas decrease in temperature, reduces its efficiency.

2. pH:- Change in pH, alters the active site of an enzyme, therefore substrate binding cannot takes place.

3. Inhibitors:- these molecule can bind with enzyme and reduce its efficiency.

4. Effect of activators - these molecule can bind with enzyme and increase its efficiency

5. Substrate concentration:- Decrease in substrate concentration will lead to the inactivity of enzymes. In other words, increasing Substrate Concentration increases the rate of reaction. The rates of chemical reactions often double
every time the substrate concentration is doubled. This is because more substrate molecules will be colliding with enzyme molecules, so more product will be formed. But after a certain concentration, any increase will have no effect on the rate of reaction, since Substrate Concentration will no longer be the limiting factor. The enzymes will effectively become saturated, and will be working at their maximum possible rate.
