‘Family, values and respect for the elderly are fast disappearing in today’s world. Comment with reference to ‘The Portrait of a Lady’ (Answer in not more than 120-150 words)

Dear student,

It is true that family values and respect for the elderly are fast disappearing in today’s world. We read about a similar situation in the story 'The Portrait of a Lady'. While the author shared a close bond with his grandmother in his childhood, as time progressed he lost that bond with his grandmother. He learnt music, which his grandmother did not approve of and also began spending less time with his grandmother. Though circumstances and change in lifestyle are to be blamed for this gap, it also indicates how quickly family values and respect for the elderly disappear in today's world.

Regards
