Fear or/and conscience - what worked behind the boys decision of returning the stolen horse?

Dear Student,

The boys returned the horse to protect the honour and name of their family. They did not return the horse out of fear. When John Byro visited Mourad and Aram, he recognised his horse. However, he refused to believe that anyone from the Garoghlanian tribe would steal. He convinced himself that the horse that Aram and  Mourad had was a duplicate of his horse. At this stage, the conscience of the boys pricked them. Therefore, they returned the horse to John Byro.
