Find metaphors and smilies in the given poem below - Indian Weavers
Dear student,
Some of the metaphors in the poem are the use of different types of garments being woven to represent the stages of life: robes for the new born child and funeral shroud standing for the beginning and end of life. The colours of the garments are representative of moods and emotions: the bright colours denoting royalty and a celebtration of life, white denoting peace and tranquility found in death.
Some of the similes in the poem are as follows:
- garment blue as the wing of halcyon wild
- bright like the plumes of a peacock
- white as the feather, white as the cloud
Try and find other metaphors and similes on your own: they are both figures of speech that use comparison between two things. Similes use the words 'as' or 'like'.
Regards
