In my area an employment scheme called as MNREGA was launched few years back.
It came into existence with an act National Rural Employment Guarantee Act 2005.
It is meant to generate employment for those having no source of earning livelihood.
It aims at providing the livelihood security in  rural areas .It provides 100 days of wage employment in a financial year to every household where the adult members volunteer to do  the unskilled manual work
