Find the area of the Quadrilateral ABCD whose vertices are A ( -3 , -1) , B (-2, -4) , C ( 4, -1) andD (3,4) . ..

Let the vertices of the quadrilateral be A(-3, -1), B(-2, -4), C(4, -1) and D(3, 4).

Let AC be the diagonal of quadrilateral ABCD. Therefore,

We know that,

Substitute these values in equation (1), we have,

Hence, area of  quadrilateral  is 28  square units.

Divide it into 2 triangles – triangle abc and triangle acd

Area of triangle abc + area of triangle acd= area of quadrilateral abcd

area of triangle = 1/2 [ x1(y2-y3) +x2(y3-y1) +x3(y1-y2) ]
