Find the coordinates of the points of trisection of the line segment joining the points A (6,-2) and B(-8,10)

Dear Student,
Following is a solution to a similar question:
For your doubt, you need to replace the values of A and B to
A (6,-2) and B(-8,10), and the rest of the calculations can be done.

Let A (1, -2), B (-3, 4) be the given points and P (x, y), Q (x’, y’) are the point of trisection.

P divides AB internally in the ratio 1:2

So,

Co-ordinates of P are given by,

Again Q is the midpoint of PB. So, co-ordinates of Q is given by

Hence the co-ordinate of the points of trisection are (-1/3, 0) and (-5/3, 2).

For your doubt, the co-ordinate of the points of trisection would be different.
