find the perimeter of shaded region if ABCD is a square of side 14 cm and APBand CPDare semicircles.

perimeter of the shaded region=circumference of the the two semi-circles+DA+BC
DA=BC=14cm
Cicumference of the two semicircles is equal to that of one circle.
Here,diameter of the circle=14cm
so it's radius=7cm

2πr+14+14=
2×22/7×7+14+14=
72cm
so, perimeter of the shaded region=72cm

Perimeter of shaded region = 2 * side of square + 2 * perimeter of semicircle
                                           = 2 * 14 cm + 2 * 22/7 * 14/2 cm
                                          = 28 + 44 cm = 72 cm

area of the shaded reason is =  AD + BC + DPC + APB
                                             =  14 + 14 + pi*r2
                                                            =   28  +  22*7*7
                                                                              7
                                                            =   182 cm2

PERIMETER OF THE SHADED REGION = circumference of the semicircles + 2 x side of the square
                                                                 = 2 pi r  + 2 * 14
                                                                 = 2 *22/7* 7 + 28
                                                                 = 44 + 28
                                                                  = 72 cm (ans)
