find the product of the additive inverse and multiplicative inverse of -3 and explain briefly????

Additive inverse of a number is the opposite of that number.

⇒ additive inverse of 3 = -3

Similarly, multiplicative inverse of a number is the reciprocal of that number.

⇒ multiplicative inverse of 3 =

So, product of additive and multiplicative inverse = -3 × = -1

  • 0

additive inverse of -3=3

multiplicative inverse of-3 = 1/-3

3 * 1/-3= -1

  • 0

Additive  inverse  of  -3  is  3.

Multiplicative  inverse  of  -3  is  1 / -3.

So,  the  product  of  these  two,

ie,  3  *  1 / -3  =  1.

[ This  is  because,  here,  3  and  -3  gets  cancelled,  and  the  remaining  number  is  -1! ].

  • -1

additive inverse of -3 is 3

multiplicative inverse of -3 is 1/-3

so the answer is 3 x 1/3 = -1

(3 and -3 will get  canceled  and -1 would remain)
