Find the smallest number which when divided by 18,12,24 leaves a remainder of 16,10 and 22 respectively

                                 = 72 + 2

72 is completely divisible by 18,12, 24. 

so, minus the remainder from the numbers and the answer is two. So, if we wil add 2 to the numbers we will not get back the same answer if we will divide, so we have to minus 2 from the numbers and then after by dividing we will get back the same remainders.

now, you see that the difference between 18, 12, 24 and 16, 10, 22 respectively is 2.


LCM of 18,12,24 = 72


so the number which when divided by these numbers to get the latter numbers is 70.


so that this number is 2 numbers away from being completely divisible in each case and leaves remainders 16, 10, 22 respectively.


18 X 3 + 16 = 70

12 X 5 + 10 = 70

24 X 2 + 22 = 70
