find the square root of 8-15i

  • -4
8+15(-i)
=8+15i^3
=8+15(i^2)i
its just a clue u may do the rest

  • -6
HERE IS THE SOLUTION TO THIS,!!!
LET a+i b= square root 8-15 i
then, (a+i b )2 = 8-15 i
       a  2- b2+2 a b = 8 - 15 i
EQUATING THE REAL AND IMAGINARY PARTS,
2 - b 2 = 8
2 a b= - 15

we know,
 (a 2+b 2)2= (a- b 2)2+ (2 a b)2
=64+225
=289

THUS,a 2+ b 2=17
from, 1 and 2, a = +/- 5/root 2 and b = +/- 3/root 2
SINCE THE PRODUCT a b is NEGATIVE,
THE SQUARE ROOTS ARE +/- (5/root 2 -/+ 3/root 2 i)
HOPE U GOT IT.
