for DNA  fingerprinting radioactive probe obtained from which is used in india? banded krait, king cobra, viper, rat snake

Answer: Branded Krait
The following is a part of an article titled,"Charm of snakes led this scientist to DNA Fingerprinting. "

Perhaps it was the charm of snakes that made a science scholar contribute greatly in the field of cellular and molecular biology, DNA fingerprinting and conservation of endangered species.

Meet Dr Lalji Singh, a pioneer in DNA fingerprinting who is an alumnus of Banaras Hindu University (BHU) and is presently serving as its vice-chancellor. He worked on sex chromosomes in snakes. Isolation of the highly conserved sex chromosome-specific satellite DNA (Bkm) from the female Banded Krait was an important landmark in his early career. It marked the beginning of understanding of the molecular basis of sex-determination, which is one of the most important unsolved problems in modern biology. This discovery is considered to be a major breakthrough in the understanding of molecular basis of sex-determination. This has also become the basis of understanding of sex-reversal in humans.

Singh and his colleagues developed a probe (Bkm-derived probe) for DNA fingerprinting which brought Center of Cellular and Molecular Biology (CCMB) to limelight. Since then, this probe is being extensively used for forensic investigation, paternity determination and seed stock verification.
