For the following reactions, equilibrium constants are given.
- CO(g) + H2O(g)
CO2(g) + H2(g) ; K1
- CH4(g) + H2O(g)
CO(g) + 3H2O(g) ; K2
- CH4(g) + 2H2O(g)
CO2(g) + 4H2(g) ; K3
Find the relation between K1, K2 and K3 .

Dear Student,
There must be a correction in the question that you have mentioned.
In this question if we add reaction 1 and 2, the new reaction becomes:
CO (g) + H2O (g) ------CO2 (g) +H2 (g) K1
CH4(g) + H2O (g) --------CO (g) + 3H2 (g) K2
ON ADDING THE ABOVE TWO,
CO (g) + H2O (g) + CH4(g) + H2O (g)------------CO (g) + 3H2 + CO2 (g) +H2
The K3 value will be (K1)*K2
CO (g) + CH4(g) +2 H2O(g) ------------- CO2 (g) +4 H2 thus K3 = K1*K2
