For the same metal, the same ligands and metal ligand distances it can be shown that  <delta>t=<delta>*4/9...what does this means?

This line has been used in reference to crystal field splitting energy in a tetrahedral field. The coordination number of the central metal atom in a tetrahedral field is 4, while that in an octahedral field is 6. Thus, if we compare a tetrahedral complex and an octahedral complex in which

1) the central metal atoms are the same

2) the ligands around the central metal atom are the same

3) the distance between the metal and ligand is the same

then we will find that the crystal field splitting energy of a tetrahedral field is (4 / 9) times that of an octahedral field.
