For uniform motion , if slope is positve i.e velocity is positive, What about accleration? Is it zero or positive? Give with examples.
Also If slope is negetive i.e velocity is negetive and constant throughout, what about acceleration? Is it zero or positve? Since velocity is not changing does acceleration is zero? Please explain sir

Dear Student,

Please find below the solution to the asked query:

IF the slope of the x-t graph, this means the velocity is positive. This is not mean that the acceleration should have a particular sign. Acceleration may have any sign. Here, below i am providing the examples for the three cases.

  • If a force acing on a block on a smooth surface, then the velocity and acceleration both are positive.
  • If the object is moving with uniform velocity, then the velocity is positive even though the acceleration is Zero.
  • If the object is projected into air, then the object velocity is positive before reaching maximum height and acceleration is negative.
