from a solid cylinder whose height is 15cm and diameter is 16 cm a conical cavity of the same height and same diameter is hollowed out find the total surface area of the remaining solid take pie = 3.14

Even if the volume of a solid is hollowed out, its TSA remains the same,so to find the TSA of the cone,use the formula base area+CSA =πrl+πr2=πr(l+r).

Here, radius(r)=16/2=8cm,π=3.14

To find the slant height of the cone,we use the formula l2=r2+h2

l2=82+152

l2=64+225

l=√289=17

Now,TSA of cone[πr(l+r)]=3.14×8(17+8)

                                         =3.14×8×25

                                         =628 cm2

Therefore, total surface area of the remaining solid is 628 cm2.

h=15,r=8
csa of cone =pi*r*l
                  =136*pi        (l=root of 15^2+8^2)
cylider's surface area=2*pi*r*h + pi*r^2
                                   =304 * pi
thus,
 tsa of figure= 304*pi+136*pi
                            =440*pi
                             =1382.8 cm^2.

CSA of cone+ CSA of cylinder +Πr square(as there will be a circular shape when dug out)=
pi r l+2 pi rh+pi r square
pi r(l+2h+r)
22÷7×8(17+2×15+8)
176÷7(55)
9680÷7
1382.85
approx=1382.80 cm square
