From amongst the 6000 literate individuals of a city, 50% read newspaper A, 45% read newspaper B and 25% read neither A nor B. How many individuals read both newspaper A as well as B?

The given information can be represented using venn - diagram as:

Let the number of literate individuals be 100 and x out of these individuals read both newspaper A as well as B.

∴ (50 – x) + x + (45 – x) + 25 = 100

⇒  x = 20

When number of individuals are 100, then 20 read both newspapers A and B.

∴ When number of individuals will be 6,000, then the number of individuals who read both newspapers A as well as B
