(b) Why do we say that F1 plants in this case are hybrid?
(c) What is the percentage of homozygous purple and homozygous white in F2 generation

20. a) Purple flower is dominant and white flower is recessive.
b) F1 plant in this case is hybrid because it is heterozygous containing dominant allele of purple flower (P) and recessive allele of white flower(p). F1 formed is Pp genotype where P is dominant allele and p is recessive allele. Genotype contains both the dominant and recessive allele therefore it is called hybrid.
c) Two cases arise which is given below. In case 1,  25% is homozygous purple and 25% is homozygous white and in case 2 , 100% homozygous white is formed and 25% is homozygous purple and 25% is homozygous white.
