Gain of h+ ion is oxidation or reduction explain with reason

Dear student,

Oxidation and reduction can determine with the concept of gain or loss of H+ ion. It can be also determined either by gain or loss of electrons or by gain and lose of H or O.

According to definition;

Oxidation - Gain of O or loss of H or loss of e- or gain of H+ ( proton) that increase the oxidation number is called as oxidation.
Reduction – lose of O or gain of H or gain of e- / lose of H+ (proton)  that decrease the oxidation number is called as reduction.

Hence we gain of hydrogen ion is oxidation and lose of hydrogen ion is reduction.
