George Washington is a kind of man
  • -1
George Washington was a kind man. He took great pains to help people and his compassion extended even to animals. One day he saw a dog caught in the mud and decided to extricate the poor chap stuck in that position. The dog seemed to be exhausted, it must have tried to get out but failed eventually. Washington's heart filled with pity at the plight of the dog and he pushed into the mud to pull out the dog himself. He succeeded in his endeavours and the dog was pulled out. His friends who had been walking with him were quite astonished and praised him for his good deeds. However, the dog turned around and bit Washington's hand, trotting off without a peremptory glance back at him. Washington took it on his chin and commented, "I relieved myself of my pain and the dog of his."
