Metaphor- A figure of speech in which a word or a phrase is used to describe an object or action that isn't literally true, but suggests similarity, gives explanation or draws comparison.
Eg. 1. Chaos is a friend of mine.
2. Her eyes were fireflies.
3. Laughter is music of the soul.
4. The teacher planted seeds of wisdom.
5. The wheels of justice turn slowly.
Personification- Attributing human characteristics or qualities of a person to something non-human.
Eg. 1. The wind howled in the night.
2. My alarm clock yells at me every morning.
3. Traffic slowed to a crawl.
4. Lightening danced across the sky.
5.The flowers danced in the gentle breeze.
Paradox- A situation or statement that seems difficult to understand because it contains two opposite facts, but that may be true.
Eg. 1. Nobody goes to that bar anymore because it's too crowded.
2. I know that I know nothing.
3. I always lie.
4. This is the beginning of the end.
5. This sentence is false.
