Give a method of preparation of XeF6. Discuss its hydrolysis.
Dear Student,
Xenon hexafluoride is prepared by the reaction of xenon and fluorine in the ratio 1 : 20 at temperature range between 473 to 523 K under a pressure of 50 atmospheres.
Hydrolysis of XeF6
a) Partial hydrolysis of XeF6 gives XeOF4 .
b) Complete hydrolysis of XeF6 gives xenon trioxide.
