The test used to demonstrate the production of alcohol during anaerobic respiration are iodoform test and potassium dichromate test. The procedure of the potassium dichromate test is as under:
  1. Take few ml of yeast solution (yeast with glucose) in the test tube.
  2. Add same volume of potassium dichromate in the test tube followed by addition of few drops of sulphuric acid.
  3. Now heat the test tube in water bath for few minutes.
  4. The colour change from orange to green indicates presence of alcohol.
The initial colour is orange and final colour becomes green.
