Noun and pronoun are used as the subject and object of a sentence. Although their funtion in a sentence is same, nouns denote an object such as a thing, animal, place etc whereas pronouns are used to refer to a specific noun or used in the place of nouns.
For example: A dog is sleeping. He is Ram's pet dog.
