Give differences between Cactus and Bryophyllum

Dear student

Cactus is a member of the family Cactaceae. It is found in dry climatic conditions such as deserts and requires less amount of water to grow. Its leaves are not clearly visible and its stem thick and spongy to reduce water loss in desert condition.
Cactus has spines, the modified leaves, to keep animals from eating the stem, reflect the heat of sun and prevent water loss. Modified stem of cactus is very soft and it stores water and carry out photosynthesis as they do not have leaves.

Bryophyllum is a plant. In Bryophyllum, the leaf allows the development of many shoot buds. These buds form roots at their base. When these plantlets break and fall from the parent leaf on the ground, a new plant is formed. It is a type of vegetative propagation.
