Conc.nitric acid is not used for the preparation of HCL because it is volatile and may volatilize out along with HCL

Conc.nitric is highly volatile.

Bcoz it is volatile (vapourises easily) and may be volatizing with with HCl also taking it away.

1=nitric acid is volatile acid 2=it cannot displace another volatile acid from its compound 3=it has a low B.P. and will volatalize off along with the fumes of hydrogen chloride

Concentrate nitric acid is not used for the preparation because it is volatile in nature and due HCl also being volatile get volatilised with it.
